Deratization is a set of measures and procedures undertaken with the aim of reducing the population of harmful rodents/rats, mice and mouse-like rodents, which are natural reservoirs and carriers of infectious disease agents or storage pests, and due to their wide distibution, fertility and intelligence, they pose a great danger to humans and their environment.

Pest control includes all measures taken to prevent the entry, retention and reproduction of harmful rodents on surfaces, in different spaces and in buildings. The discovery of rats playing a key role in transmittion and spread of plague was the impetus for the first organized and legally regulated actions to combat these harmful rodents . The implementing of mandatory systematic rat control in all cities and towns in Croatia was prescribed by the Law on the protection of the population from infectious diseases (Offical Gazette,79/7,113/08).

Pest control is carried out by placing baits in large and small pest control boxes made of hard plastic, there is an inscription on it's lid :''POISON-DO NOT TOUCH''.The notice ''BEWARE OF POISON!'' is attached to every placed placed box ,on the wall or some other visible place as an additional warning not to touch these boxes.

Rodenticides from the group of anticoagulants are used for preventive rodent control,i.e. second generations depending on the type of pest controlled or expected in certain area.

Besides placing deratization boxes with poisoned baits, traps i.e.cardboard boxes with glue are also placed where necessary and possible, and trapper glue,too. The company Sanitat d.o.o.has signed a contract with company Cian d.o.o. from Split to cooperate in matters of harmless waste disposal, from waste packaging to dead pests.

Systematic pest control campaigns take place twice a year, in the spring (March/April) and autumn(September/October). The first step to inform the public about the time and place(streets) of systematic pest control, including all city roads , parking lots and other public areas, the historic city center and walls, as well as storm drains .In addition, we also cover the areas of Mokošica, Veliki i Mali Zaton, Elafiti islands with systematic pest control.We always place poisoned baits in sheltered places or in specially designated boxes so that they are ineccessible to people, animals, and especially children.

DESINSECTION is a set of mechanical, physical, biological and chemical measures and procedures that are undertaken with the aim of suppressing or reducing the population of insects that transmit infectious diseases, cause allergic reactions and have a toxic effect.

The most common insects we control are:

• in communal hygiene: cockroaches, ants, flies, fleas, wasps, hornets, moths
